Prep Montessori Academy is a private school located in Garland, Texas. We serve children ages 6 weeks-elementary in the Garland, Richardson, Addison, Dallas and surrounding areas.

The Montessori method, developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, is a unique, scientific approach to education based on decades of observations of children and their inherent developmental needs from ages birth through adulthood. Dr. Montessori devoted her life to determining the needs of children within each stage of development and thoughtfully prepared environments designed to meet those needs. The results of her efforts produce joyful learners who have a solid foundation for creative and lifelong learning. Montessori classrooms are designed to foster independence through self-directed activities, hands on learning and collaborative, purposeful play. The environments are beautiful, orderly, filled with natural light, inviting and designed to feed a child’s innate curiosity through self- discovery.

The infant program is designed to build a sense of trust and security for both parents and children. This is a very delicate age and the first experience of parent and child leaving the nest and being separated. As such, the enviroment is warm, loving, peaceful, beautiful, simple, orderly and meticulously maintained from floor to ceiling.
During this short period of time, the infant moves towards becoming more cognizant, attentive, responsive, communicative, mobile and independent. After meeting specific milestones, he crosses the bridge to the toddler area where a whole new world is awaiting to meet his changing needs.
He is now ready to move on to the primary area where the next set of challenges await him. The primary years focus on the development of a sense of order, extended periods of concentration, coordination and a deeper sense of independence.
